January is finally on the verge of being over. What a relief! It has been a rough month with harsher than usual weather and particularly harsh SAD (seasonal affect disorder). Happens to me every year but I seem to forget about it from year to year until its upon me unexpectedly.
To combat the SAD, I have been searching and searching for something to motivate me. Something to get me exercising again, feeling more upbeat. So far nothing has worked.
Therefore, I've decided to go on a communications/media blackout for one week, starting on Monday. This means no TV, no text messages, no personal email, no newspapers, no web surfing, no blog reading. Crazy? Not really. The amount of garbage information and data that is thrown at me on a daily basis could stand a week of purging. The obsessive urge to check my cell phone for text messages 50 times a day, could also stand to be reduced.
Obviously I have to go to work so I will be dealing with work emails and phone calls, but I won't be checking Facebook (or blogging for that matter).
What I hope to get out of it is a clear mind and a renewed sense of discipline.
