Yesterday was David's birthday and it was the most ideal way I could imagine having spent a birthday. First we started out a Prune for an amazing brunch. I never realized how average the food is at most of the places I brunch until I ate at Prune. Best eggs benedict I've ever had. Expansive bloody mary selection. Am eager to try dinner there. Plus, one celebrity sighting to boot (albeit, C-list), Jeff Goldblum.
Then we headed off to see Xanadu, which I have seen before but David wanted to see it this time from the seats on stage. Yes, actually on the stage. The actors performed with their backs to us. Well, not entirely, it IS a musical with lots of dancing and stage entrances and exits from all over the place. The best part of it (besides really feeling a part of the musical instead of just a spectator in the audience) was being close enough to Cheyenne Jackson that I could've reached out and touched him. Once he was close enough that I could've stuck my tongue out and licked him. I worked hard to restrain myself.
That man is so gorgeous that my palms started sweating the minute he entered the stage and did not stop sweating until the show was over. In the final number he changes into these hot pants (tiny, knit black roller skating shorts with white piping). This man is God's perfect, PERFECT creation. When he turns to Kiera and tells her that he loves her with his amazing blue eyes (I was 6 feet from him at this point), I wanted to die. I sound like a teenager but he is such a perfect specimen of man.
After the show I desperately needed a cold shower but instead we stopped by the Howl Festival, where Joey Arias was singing on stage. His show, Arias with a Twist, has been extended and I recommend going to see it.
Final stop was Plump Dumpling where I stuffed myself with steamed veggie dumplings. It was such a nice day to spend with David, his husband and their friends.
Did I mention how hot Cheyenne Jackson is?
