The 40-something cab ride:
Shared a cab ride home with an instructor of mine who loves to talk (about himself). He gave a 20 minute monologue about his escape plan from NYC. He's been here since 2004 and has decided, upon turning 40, that he really likes cars, motorcycles, spacious living arrangements, hanging out in driveways and money in the bank. None of which he's found here.
"You can lose your true self in this city," and then he agreed with my counter-argument, that one does not lose oneself, one just tires of the grind and pace of the city.
He found whom he thinks will be his like-minded lifemate (Match.com) and hopes that in the next 2-3 years, they are both out of NYC.
I silently agreed with him. Silently, because he didn't ask me a thing about myself. Another quality one acquires living in NYC - complete, utter, self-absorption.
The escape plan....
